We use air conditioners to cool the air inside our homes so we can live in comfort. We set and regulate air temperature inside the house by using a thermostat.
Air conditioners don’t produce cold air. The basic concept is that a chemical called a refrigerant loops from the inside of the home to the outside absorbing and casting off heat, the refrigerant cools and re-enters the home in an ongoing, repeating cycle.
An air conditioner system has three primary components: compressor, condenser, and evaporator. The compressor squeezes the molecules in the refrigerant. The closer together they get, the higher the temperature and rise in energy. The gas leaves the compressor and flows into a condenser coil where it releases the heat absorbed from the house. An evaporator coil cools the air and routes it through the house through a series of air ducts. Evaporator and condenser coils work together.
